V8 Fans Attend ITM 500

ITM 500 logoThis years ITM 500 was a little different from past years with an extra race day held over the Anzac weekend. A group of 23 ITM customers & staff from Motueka, Greymouth and Nelson left a day before the 500 event started and joined supplier Euro Corporation on a trip to Wild On Waiheke (Island) for a day of challenges including  archery, clay bird shooting and for the last challenge of the day we were supplied materials to build a catapult and fire an egg as far as possible without breaking it (interesting!), then onto dinner and back to Auckland around 10.30 pm

First Day of Racing

We respected Anzac Day with racing underway at 1pm and only a couple of warm-up races and the main race which went to Fords Mark “Frosty” Winterbottom not a good start for a Holden supporter. Following the racing it was off to Eden Park for a boot party and dinner to watch the Blues beat the Warratahs, and where builder Rhys Horncastle was presented with a signed Blues Jersey from the non playing Blues for picking closest to the final score. (Will it become worth something having Benji Marshalls rugby signature on the shirt?)

Day Two Racing ITM 500 Cup winners

Back focusing on the ITM500 and the V8s it was a great opportunity for all of ITM Trade Club clients to enjoy the benefits of ITM as the main sponsor with Hot Laps in helicopters and cars, grid walks before each main race, tours of the pit garages and even the opportunity to get up on the podium with the trophy’s.

The racing ended up over the weekend with 2 wins to Mark Winterbottom (Ford) and 2 to Holden (Shane Van Gisbergen and Jason Bright). The South Island ITM Tour party completed the weekend with a great night out in Auckland. Our thanks goes out to suppliers Firth and James Hardie for their generous support of the weekend so we could show our ITM clients a great time.

Think about joining ITM on one of our major Trade Club events each year, they just have everything laid on for our customers. (story submitted by Tony Broughton, ITM Trade Sales Manager)
